Nekaj številk in podatkov:
- Predstavilo se bo 21,500 psov, 2987 jih pride iz 43 drugih držav s celega sveta, med njimi tudi 9 psov iz Slovenije ,^.

- Začetek Crufts-a sega v leto 1891.
- V zadnjih letih so na prireditvi od razstavljavcev zbrali £138,000 za Kennel Club Charitable Trust (KCCT), ki je denar razdelil v dobrodelne namene in vložil v raziskave nekaterih pasjih bolezni.
- Na stotine mešancev in križancev sodeluje v raznih tekmovanjih in predstavitvah: agility, flyball, poslušnost, ples, Scruffts, Friends For Life in druge.
- Best in Show naslov podeljujejo že 87 let. Za najlepše so bili v teh letih izbrani predstavniki 43 različnih pasem.
- Največkrat so bili najlepši koker španjeli - sedemkrat, sledijo jim irski setri in welsh terierji, katerih predstavniki so bili najlepši po štirikrat.
- Prvi Best in Show je bil veliki angleški hrt ali greyhound.

Tests being done to see if Crufts show dog was poisoned
A toxicology report is due next week to see whether a show dog who died shortly after competing in Crufts at Birmingham's NEC was poisoned.
Caroline Kisko, secretary of the Kennel Club, says they extend their sympathy and understanding to Jagger the Irish Setter's owners, who have flown back to Belgium. She says we cannot know the cause of Jagger's death until the tests have been carried out.

Skupina je zaprta, ampak nima veze. Take zastrupitve povsem pašejo v delovanje PETE. Ali je kaj na tem, bodo pa verjetno kmalu povedali preiskovalci. Da v Peti ne izbirajo sredstev, so že premnogokrat dokazali.

We completely understand the concerns about how Knopa, the Best in Show dog, was handled on the judging table. Those showing at Crufts receive clear written guidance on handling their dog, in order to ensure the dog’s welfare, and this guidance makes it clear that dogs should not be handled in this way. This was further highlighted to the handler by show officials. The handler has since apologised for this and the upset caused and we’ve been assured that the dog, who must be our main priority, is happy and well. Prior to this incident the guidance related to handling has been followed by those showing their dogs but in light of this situation we will be reviewing our rules and guidance and how they may need to be amended going forward. A decision will be made by committee about what action may be taken within the current rules and guidance. In this specific case an investigation is underway and a decision will be made by committee about the actions that have been taken by the exhibitor at Crufts and the next steps. The judge’s primary focus is on the dogs themselves and we do not believe it would be fair to strip the dog of its Best in Show title because the dog was awarded this prize based on its own merits in the show ring.

Terierji so v osnovi psi, ki imajo močan rep, kar je bil nekdaj predvsem praktično pri lovu, saj so jih celo za rep vlekli iz jam. Meni osebno se zdi, da se okrog tega handlinga zganja prevelik cirkus, je pa res da pravila so pa pravila, tudi če se vsi z njimi ne strinjamo.
Moj cairn sploh ne reagira, ko ga primem za rep, če se mu zaplete povodec med noge, medtem ko je na prijem za noge vedno reakcija, ker tega ne mara.

Med komentarji zagovornikov zmagovalke na Cruftsu sta mi v uč padla tale dva argumenta:
- da se od nekdaj prime škota za rep, ker se ga že od pamtiveka za rep vlači iz lukenj/jam med delom,
- da je dobila škotinja (psica) titulo BIS in to zaradi lepote, ne pa handlerka, zato ji titule ne smejo odvzeti, kvečjemu lahko kaznujejo handlerko.

Nasprotniki oz. tisti, ki se zavzemajo za odvzem naslova, podajajo tale dva protiargumenta:
- BIS ring ni luknja/jama iz katere bi bilo treba škota vlačiti za rep,
- škotinja (psica) nima pojma o kakšni BIS tituli in ji dol visi zanjo.

Dodajam: če so od pamtiveka škote za rep dvigovali, pa če to še sedaj počnejo, bodo očitno morali nehati. Uhlje in repe so v kar nekaj državah (tudi v Sloveniji) rezali do pred nekaj let, zdaj jih ne (smejo) več. Še pred nedavnim je bilo normalno, da so pse na razstavah špricali s samo kemijo, zdaj je le-ta prepovedana. Še pred nedavnim so bokserje morali razstavljati postavljene drugega proti drugemu, ker so se menda samo 'na zadnjih tacah in s penastimi gobci' pokazali v vsej svoji lepoti, zdaj jih tako ne smejo več razstavljati ...

V pravilniku (nekdo je poslikal in prilepil en del) ni bilo zapisano, da je predvidena neka sankcija za taka dejanja. Samo v stilu, da ni zaželeno. Bodo pa morali razmislit, da tu nekaj spremenijo, če bodo hoteli imet nek red in predvsem mir.

Ojej no. Med zagovorniki tega piše tudi, da je treba pravila dobro prebrat in tam piše, da se psa ne sme prijet za rep IN za vrvico. Zdaj pa kot to kdo razume, ampak načeloma ga je ona držala za glavo in za rep.
Sicer pa jaz ne zagovarjam ne enih ne drugih, sem pa povedala, da se zganja prevelik halo okrog tega, saj imam dva cairna, torej tudi terierja in jima dvig za rep, če se jima zaplete vrvica med noge, ne povzroča nikakršne reakcije (je pa nasprotno ta drugi vedno siten, če mu primem taco), lahko me pa zdaj okličete za mučiteljico. Primerjat to z rezanjem uhljev in repa pa sploh ni vredno komentarja.

Z ničemer nisem primerjala, sem samo navedla primere, da se pravila za ravnanje spreminjajo in dvigovanje (ok, menda vlačenje) škotov za rep ni izjema. Včasih so rezali repe, zdaj ne več. Včasih so škote iz lukenj vlačili za rep, zdaj menda ne več (vsaj nisem zasledila), če drugega ne, tega ne želijo počet na Cruftsu, za kar so spisali papir. In nisem govorila o tem, da je prijemanje za rep mučenje, temveč le o tem, da so spisali pravila in priporočila, ki pa se jih gospa ni držala, kljub temu, da so jo menda večkrat na to opozorili, in menda se je kasneje opravičila, torej ji je jasno, da nekaj v njenem ravnanju ni bilo povsem ok.

Osebno sem mnenja, da je prav, da folk zaradi takih zadev piše in protestira ter zganja halo, ker sem tudi jaz prepričana, da ni prav, da organizatorji napišejo priporočilo, da se ne sme terierja dvigovat za rep in vrvico (o boh, zmagovalni osebek ga je posračkala samo na pol :P, mi si pa dovolimo javno kamenjanje), potem pa da sodnik psu prav takega razstavljavca BIS. A je bilo ostalih 6 psov v BISu nevrednih tega naslova? No, ja, potem je za vprašati sodnike, kako so jih sploh spustili v BIS ring, če škotinja po lepoti tako neznansko izstopa, da bi sicer bili v BISu brez luči, če je ne bi bilo. Eden in edini, al kako?

Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club, said: "The Kennel Club's deepest sympathies go to Jagger's owners, who have received confirmation that Jagger tragically died from the ingestion of poisoned material, and we ask that their privacy is respected as they grieve for their beloved pet.

"There has been a lot of concern about whether the poisoning happened at Crufts and we are now able to reassure all dog lovers who came to Crufts that this could not have been possible and it is highly likely that the poisons, thought to be on a piece of beef, were eaten in Belgium, shortly before Jagger's death.

"We have had confirmation, including from independent toxicologists, that the poisons identified in the toxicology report - carbofuran and aldicarb - are fast acting. Severe clinical symptoms would usually occur within half an hour to three hours.

"Considering we are told that Jagger showed the first clinical signs usually associated with these two poisons shortly before his death in Belgium, late on Friday 6thMarch night, leading to the immediate call for veterinary attention, we must conclude that it is inconceivable that he could have been poisoned at Crufts on Thursday 5thMarch, some 28 to 36 hours earlier.
